I have over 15 years of experience being a teacher and a musician. I teach the Violin, Viola, Keyboard, Composition, Music Theory and also can tutor for NCEA Music. I completed a degree in Violin and Viola with focus of how to teach the Violin and Violin. I am also currently a Head of Department of Music at a Secondary School in the Wellington area. I have extensive knowledge of different teaching techniques on the Violin and Viola, on the New Zealand Arts Curriculum and NCEA Music. I also know how to engage people in their learning and enjoy learning and playing their musical instrument
Music is very enjoyable. It is a life long skill that will aid people of all ages s in their learning. To be more disciplined in their thinking and be more creative. Creative thinkers are the people that stand out in society and are fully aware of their surroundings.
In 2003, I completed my Bachelor of Music in Performance and Bachelor of Arts in Education and in 2005 completed my Diploma of Teaching in Secondary.
First I find out what the student (and their parents) wants to get out of learning a music instrument or skill. When we have laid out short term, medium term and long term goals. I will design a programme and find repertoire that they will enjoy learning.
If you may be looking for a new teacher, I am happy to continue on the path your previous teacher has set out for you and then adjust the programme once I understand where you want to go.
