After moving back to New Zealand in 2016 he has been an active part of the Christchurch jazz scene and can be seen around town. He will be working as a guitar tutor at Ara Institue (formerly CPIT Jazz School) from 2017.
My goal as a teacher is making you a not only a better guitar player but a better musician. The focus will be on being able to critically self-analyze and diagnose deficiencies, how to listen at a deeper level and developing solid technique.
The topics which may be covered are:
- Constructing and developing lines
- Basic to advanced voicings
- Voice-leading within chords and lines
- Advanced jazz harmony
- Left and right hand technique
- Posture and form
- Sight reading
Currently I’m only willing to take regular students who are already have a basic understanding of playing the guitar and are familiar with basic music theory. Please contact me to set up a free consultation. Also available for one-off lessons depending on my availability.
I will be teaching out of Ara Institute in town or at my home in Burwood.
