Before taking up her studies in Germany in 2011, Christine performed as a casual musician with the Manukau Symphony Orchestra, St Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra and Auckland Philharmonia. A keen chamber musician, her Martinů flute, cello, piano trio was a finalist in the 2006 Auckland Chamber Music Competition and Royal Overseas League.
In Germany she took every opportunity to extend her musical development. She was a popular casual member of the Johann Strauss Ensemble, as well as principal flute of the Freiburg (Germany), Tel Aviv (Israel) and Padua (Italy) Project Orchestra Ludus Danielus, giving World Premiere performances in Freiburg and Padua. In 2012, her flute and piano duo won 2nd place at the Internationale Interpretationswettbewerb Verfemte Musik in Schwerin.
Active freelance musician, with a special love and knowledge of woodwind chamber music, she has been playing with variety of chamber groups this year, including The Flautissimo and Trio Eclat. She has passion in teaching as well, and has many private students all over Auckland and is currently teaching at schools such as St. Peter’s College, Dilworth Boys High School and Highwic School of Music.
Hi- thanks for considering taking lessons with me.
As much as performing, teaching has always been my huge passion. From over 10 years of my teaching career, I had a great joy of meeting numerous children/ adults of all ages and ethnicity, which has taught me a lot in return about how my job is more than just teaching how to play the flute well but also helping people enjoy their lives a bit more.
Whether you want to sit grade exams, enter competitions, or just simply try out the flute- I will be happy to be your guide on this wonderful journey.
I will do my best to help you to reach your goal- whatever it may be- whilst always reminding you of how fun playing an instrument should be!
