Cindy’s students have a 100% pass rate in all piano and music theory examinations, with over 85% of those being Distinction grades.
She has had over a decade of teaching experience behind her and is very passionate about her work. Her students have ranged from ages 4 to 65, and many have enjoyed successes in competitions and examinations.
The studio is conveniently located in central Mt Eden, Auckland, and is fully equipped with a Kawai GE-30 grand piano, an extensive sheet music collection and teaching resources.

Cindy is of Taiwanese descent, and has been living in New Zealand for over 25 years. She completed her Master of Music at the University of Auckland in 2012, receiving First Class Honours in Piano Performance under the guidance of Dr. Rae de Lisle and Stephen de Pledge. During her time at university, Cindy received numerous awards and scholarships, including the University of Auckland Scholarship, Anne Bellam Scholarship, Constance Herbert Memorial Scholarship, Auckland Centennial Music Festival Scholarship, University of Auckland Blues Award, Best Performance Student Award and Senior Scholar.
After establishing a successful teaching practice in Auckland, Cindy moved to Hamilton in early 2013 to take the position as piano accompanist at the University of Waikato. She also taught piano at two of the country’s most prestigious private schools – St Paul’s Collegiate and St Peter’s School (Cambridge) as well as at her private studio, teaching an average of 50 individual lessons per week.
In 2016, Cindy and her husband were based in the UK and Europe for a year. They have since returned to Auckland, New Zealand, where Cindy has set up a new teaching studio.
Cindy has performed all over New Zealand and also England, Scotland and Wales as a chamber musician, including venues such as St James Piccadilly, St Martin-in-the Fields London, Princess Alexandra Hall, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dora Stoutzker Hall in Cardiff and many more. She is part of a chamber group that have been broadcasted on TVNZ and also Radio NZ Concert FM. She has been a guest speaker the Registered Music Teachers conference in Auckland in 2013.
While she was a student she topped the country every year in examinations on piano and violin for every grade (Trinity & Royal), and at the age of 8 was the second person in the world to achieve a 100% mark in a Trinity practical examination. By the age of 16, Cindy attained her ATCL on violin and LTCL on piano. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras on both the piano and violin. She has been the concertmaster of New Zealand Secondary School’s Symphony Orchestra (NZSSSO), and she was dux in her final year of high school.
