Bio
Richie graduated with Honours in Jazz performance from the University of Canterbury in 2005 and has played extensively throughout New Zealand and globally in a range of formats
As both an electric and double bass player he has performed with international artists including Josh Groban, Elaine Paige and Mary Coughlan and with some of New Zealand’s top musicians, bands, and songwriters including Breaks Co-op, Julia Deans, Dave Dobbyn, Sol3mio, Kevin Field, Midge Marsden, Ria Hall, Reb Fountain, Anika Moa, Anna Coddington, Holly Smith and Annie Crummer.
Richie’s recording credits include work with Julia Deans, The Eastern, Hawkins, Paul McLaney, Ed Waaka, Oval Office and most extensively with songwriter, Nadia Reid whom he has performed with for the past decade.
Other credits include work on ‘Mahana’ film soundtrack, X Factor NZ, Dancing with the Stars and the World of Wearable Arts Festival.
After a busy 11 years in Auckland, Richie has returned with his family to live in Christchurch at the end of 2023.

Since beginning my teaching career, over twenty years ago, I have been fortunate enough to be able to work in a wide range of environments across the education sector, from primary school, right through to tertiary level.
The dynamic nature of some of these environments have allowed me to incorporate a degree of adaptability and creativity into my teaching style that I’m able to carry with me into various educational settings.
Achieving engagement with my students, has always been the catalyst to moving forward by working out an approach that could be most relevant to each individual, whether that be theoretical, practical or a mixture of the two.
I have assisted and prepared students for a variety of disciplines; NCEA, Grade exams, post graduate and scholarship auditions along with general academic and performance outputs.
I have also worked extensively preparing bands for such events as Rockquest and Bandquest.
