Bio

I am a professional music producer, songwriter, and performer named Shane and I have recently moved to Wellington. I work with 2 American companies as a music producer called Songlorious & Songfinch, as well as freelance production under the title Dunluvly with other artists who earn streaming revenue on Spotify. Here’s a short bio of my artistry taken from my website;

Dunluvly is an Irish music producer and songwriter with roots in Folk Music, Traditional Irish Music, Indie Rock, and Jazz. He was awarded a first-class honor for his BA in Music Technology at Maynooth University in 2019 for his EP dissertation project ‘Plethora’. Since graduating he has been touring Ireland’s live-music scene and producing music full-time. His presence on the music scene has been recently noted by Hot Press Magazine on 2 separate occasions, The AU Review, and Surfline. His single ‘Too Late’ was used by Surfline in their short film ‘Out Front – Ireland’ as a soundtrack to Ireland’s most prevalent professional surfers. So far in 2023 Dunluvly and his band closed out their first-ever headline tour, to return to the studio for the completion of a collection of new works and collaborations. With the band’s first international tour in the works, 2023 is setting up to be his break-out year.

Teaching Info

Music is an inherently social experience. It’s a language at the end of the day! We will practice finding enough confidence in your musical abilities, that performing will be as easy as having a conversation.
My instrument/singing lessons will be split into thirds. The first 3rd will be music theory, the second third will be learning a song chosen by the student, and the final third will be learning to jam & find a groove with any fellow musician.

The theory section will sometimes focus on the management side of your music. Whether it’s a hobby or something you want to make some money out of, planning is always important.

In Violin, I can teach you how to get to a level where you will be comfortable jumping into any traditional Celtic Music session. I have recorded violin in the studio for songs that are on Spotify and even on short films that have won awards!

In Guitar, I can train you to use your ear (You can learn this, it is a common myth that you are born with it). With my 15 years of playing the guitar every day and 6 years of playing professionally, we can explore any style of your choosing.

In singing, I will teach you to find confidence in your voice and stretch an average of 4 semitones into either side of your range. Most importantly, I will teach you how to harmonize with anything. We will also practice voice preservation so that you can work multiple nights in a row if the opportunity arises.

I create the music of Dunluvly. I am the songwriter, producer, lead vocalist, and guitarist in the band. Also, I am the Violin, Banjo and Mandolin player in The Kettleboilers. In the last 2 years, both bands have been active on the Irish Music Festival scene and have sold out many ticketed events. I have been performing professionally for more than 6 years and teaching full-time for the last 3 years.
