Bio
Kia Ora! My name is Jimmy, and I am a saxophonist based in Ōtautahi. I make music at venues and festivals with artists from Aotearoa and around the world. From new beginners to more experienced players – I’m passionate about helping my students reach their goals!
I am an award-winning graduate of the Ara MusicArts programme here in Christchurch, and in 2019 I completed further study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in The Netherlands. These qualifications – along with my years of teaching and performing experience – mean that I have a number of tools and resources to help my students succeed.
I have worked and performed with artists including Scribe & P-Money, 2XM, Vallé, Tami Neilson, Jong Metropole and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
Teaching Info
Lessons are tailored to suit the students age, progress and learning style. A normal 30 minute lesson with a beginner student would include technique, scales and arpeggios, music reading, repertoire, listening and theory.
I have a studio at The Piano: Centre for Music and the Arts in central Christchurch (156 Armagh Street) where I teach and work.
Fostering an enjoyment of music and the instrument is my priority when teaching students!
