Bio
Elijah is a working jazz bassist, regularly playing gigs around Wellington with some of New Zealand’s best musicians, both in local venues and around the country on the circuit of Jazz festivals throughout the year. He has been playing for over a decade and has a Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz Performance from the New Zealand School of Music.
He has played with such New Zealand stalwarts as Callum Allardice, Mark Lockett, Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa, Cory Champion, Lockie Bennett, Alex Trask, Oscar Laven, Aryton Foote, Frank Talbot, Dan Yeabsley, Duncan Haynes and others
He also leads his own group The Elijah Mulheron Quartet which plays around Wellington frequently.
Teaching Info
Broadly, lessons will cover how to become a solid jazz double bassist, with theory, improvisation, technique etc integrated into that main goal. The aim being that the student, with their proper dedication, will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to be able to work in a professional setting; in short, to take my gigs.
