Jazz Improvisation Lessons | Trumpet Lessons, Violin Lessons
Bio
Have you always wanted to learn to improvise?
Are you a teen or adult that plays violin or trumpet and are at a good level on your instrument?
If yes then you’ve come to the right place!
I am very passionate about teaching jazz improvisation and imparting my knowledge on the subject. It is exciting to share the magic and intricacies of this craft with students!
A bit about me:
I began learning music formally as just a toddler, starting with piano and violin. Having a passionate music teacher as a mother, there was always a big emphasis on music in our family.
At at age 12 I earned Grade 8 (ABRSM) Violin and played in the first violins in the Burnside High School Orchestra. Later I was chosen as First Horn in the Burnside High School Orchestra and at age 15 earned Grade 8 (ABRSM) French Horn. When I left school I was a member of the Christchurch Youth Orchestra.
I have always had an innate ability to improvise and jam. As a teen and in my twenties I played violin as a session recording artist and played live for a large variety of rock bands.
For 8 years I was the singer/trumpet player for a 16 piece Big Band. I have also played trumpet in several reggae bands.
I played extensively in a Gypsy Jazz Duo and Trio with the renowned Connor Hartley-Hall on guitar.
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Trumpet Performance from the Christchurch Jazz School. I currently gig regularly, straddling my three disciplines as a jazz violinist, trumpet player and singer all in one duo with a jazz guitarist.
Anyway, enough about me!
I am available to teach any violinist or trumpet player 13+ who is already proficient at their instrument and wishes to study jazz improvisation.
I have a very mapped out path for my method of teaching jazz and look forward to guiding you through it!
