Bio
Hi, I’m Colin and thanks for looking. I took private drum lessons at a young age from the great Bud Jones in Wellington for several years; then developed my skills though playing in bands of various genres over 40 odd years throughout NZ.
I have operated Colin’s Drum School since 2002. And from 2006, have been the drum tutor for Gallery Music Inc, an ‘Out of Hours Music School’ sponsored by Ministry of Education – teaching Primary & Intermediate children in groups.
Teaching Info
Private lessons are tailored to achieve what you want to achieve; and at a pace to suit you. Classes are interesting and varied through working on several rhythms / techniques at once and by playing along with music. Also, we dabble in other percussion instruments.
All styles of music are covered – rock, blues, country, funk, latin american, jazz, reggae, etc.
My end of year Performance Concert gives students valuable experience in sitting in and playing with a live band – an opportunity to put into practice the skills learned.
