Bio
Diana Sverdlova, a registered piano teacher and collaborative pianist.
Born in Russia, Diana Sverdlova studied Piano performance in the Academic College under Moscow State Conservatory. After moving to New Zealand she graduated from The University of Auckland, where she studied solo performance with Prof. Tamas Vesmas and collaborative piano with Dr. Rae de Lisle, with a BMus (Honours) Degree. She then completed her postgraduate studies with Prof. Julia Madatova at the Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater, Hannover, Germany. There Diana also focused on extensive chamber music performance, studying with Prof. Hatto Bayerle (Alban Berg Quartet) and soloists of Shimanovsky Quartet.
Since then she has been teaching performance piano and working as collaborative pianist at ATCL, ARSM, LRSM, FRSM examinations. She has also collaborated at student exams and performances at The Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, The University of Waikato, class of Dr. Lara Hall.
Diana has a background of teaching both music theory and piano to a high level in preparation for graded exams, university entrance auditions, and competitions. In Diana’s Piano Studio the students prepare for ABRSM, Trinity and NZMEB exams of all grades and up to Diploma level in piano and theory. Student results include multiple grade 8 and ATCL Diplomas with Distinction.
Diana’s students have also been participating in the North Shore, SAPAC, WAPAC and Tauranga competitions, results carrying the complete scale of competition prizes.
