Emma Colligan is a violinist currently based in Wellington, New Zealand where she currently has a studio of over 50 young Violin students from age 3-45. Lessons are held in her 2 studios located in Central Wellington city and Khandallah. Emma plays for the Vector Wellington Orchestra, and has also played with the Christchurch Symphony, the Southern Symphonia, and the Auckland Chamber Orchestra. She studied in the United States and received her Masters in Violin Performance with emphasis in String Pedagogy from the Longy Conservatory of Music located in Boston, Massachusetts. She studied under famed violinist and pedagogue Mark Lakirovich, and has served as his teaching associate. During her time in America, Emma played with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina. Emma received her Bachelors of Music with Honours from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She was the recipient of several awards, including The Aotea Performing Arts scholarship, The New Zealand Post Young Musicians Award, and a Young Performers Scholarship from The Recording Industry Association of New Zealand. Emma is also available as a solo/ duo/trio or String quartet for private functions, corporate functions and weddings.
