Bio
Lauren is a Flute and Piano teacher with 17 years teaching experience and 21 years playing experience.
Born and raised in Gisborne, Lauren graduated from the University of Waikato with a Masters of Music with first class honours and a Post Graduate Diploma under the tutelage of Luca Manghi. During her time at Waikato she was runner up in the University Concerto Competition on three occasions and competed in ROSL chamber music competition. In 2013 she won the New Zealand Woodwind Competition (tertiary section) and Best Performance of a New Zealand Work. In 2015 Lauren traveled to Canberra where she was one of eight semi finalists, and the only New Zealand based competitor in the Australian Flute Festival Competition. In 2017 Lauren was a finalist in the Australian Flute Festival held in Brisbane and was the only New Zealand based competitor in the finals.
In 2018 Lauren traveled to France to study at the Tignes International Summer School under the tutelage of Professor Vincent Lucas. Lauren is currently a casual player for various NZ orchestras.
Lauren teaches from her home in Rototuna North and in Hamilton East, and offer free meetings to those who are interested in taking lessons.
Teaching Info
Each student should expect lessons composed of both practical and theory to provide sound musical knowledge. Lessons are uniquely tailored to the student to best match their individual needs. Students are able to sit graded exams if they wish, and can choose between the ABRSM or Trinity schools.
Flute is taught through until University level.
Piano is taught to grade 5 level. Students above grade 5 are considered if they do not want to sit examinations and are looking for recreational lessons only.
We are now offering cheaper lessons with less experienced teachers. These lessons will be $20 per half hour lesson. These lessons are supervised by a senior teacher.
