Bio
My name is Loxmyn and I am a saxophonist currently based in Central Auckland. I am a graduate of the University of Auckland in 2020 with a Bachelor of Music Majoring in Jazz Performance. During my study there I was also lucky enough to be awarded the KBB Jazz woodwind player of the year prize. Since then I have also had the privilege of working with acts such as Che-Fu and the Kratez, Benee, House of Shem, Supergroove and have thus gained broad experience in playing a diverse range of music. I have also written and released my own original music for my project the Filthy Junk Traders with an album called Crooked Manifest on Spotify. Regarding teaching I have years of experience teaching in primary and intermediate schools as well as in private tuition.
Teaching Info
My lessons are tailored to each student individually. I give my students the opportunity to decide what they want to get out of playing the saxophone and guide them to the goals they seek to achieve. At the same time, in lessons I take steps toward developing strong fundamental skills especially for students who are picking up the instrument for the first time. For more advanced students I can provide assistance in the exploration of harmony and improvisation as well as the fostering of creativity and the development of a unique sound/style. Currently I will be travelling house to house for lessons.
