Piano Lessons | Alexander Technique Lessons
Bio
After graduating with Distinction from the Wellington School of Music (formerly the Wellington Conservatory of Music) I studied with concert pianist Rae de Lisle and continued to teach and perform. I also became interested in Alexander Technique, both as a sound foundation for any musician and also as a life-enhancing process, and after moving to London I began to have lessons. Eventually I decided to undertake the three year full time course in Alexander Technique teacher training in Oxford, between 1994 and 1998. I was lucky enough to be one of the last students trained by Elisabeth Walker who was trained by F.M. Alexander in the 1930s. She continues to be a profound source of inspiration to me, even since her passing at the age of 97. Since graduating I have continued to teach, both as a piano teacher and as a teacher of Alexander Technique. I love my work and am deeply interested in the learning process of all of my students.
Teaching Info
My training is a a classical pianist, but I teach a range of styles and tailor my teaching to the student’s needs, drawing on over 40 years experience as a piano teacher.
With my students of Alexander Technique I give weekly lessons, beginning with the basic foundation of restoring good alignment and use, and then learning to apply this to any context of life and work.
