Bio
Music is my life-long passion! I am a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist with extensive experience performing in orchestras, choirs, bands, and shows. My parents are music teachers and I grew up playing piano, violin, viola, cello, oboe, saxophone and percussion.
Beginning in my teens, I performed in original and cover bands on vocals, keyboards and guitar. In more recent times I have been playing Celtic harp, tin whistle, violin and mandolin in Celtic folk band Lothlórien, who won a New Zealand Music Award in 2001 for their album ‘Greenwood Side’, recorded and mixed in our own recording studio.
Over the years I have been teaching children and adults to play musical instruments, including piano, keyboard, violin, recorder and tin whistle. I am a trained teacher, with a kind and patient manner. I have a gentle and encouraging approach to teaching. I enjoy sharing with others my enthusiasm for all kinds of music, and love to see students achieving more than they thought they could!
Teaching Info
I teach children from around 7 years old through to adults of any age, beginners through to intermediate level. Whatever your age, you can learn to play the piano (or keyboard) and read music. I also teach tin whistle and recorder.
Whether you are just starting out in music, or someone who always wanted to learn, or if you played when you were younger and want to return to it again, lessons can be tailored to suit your needs.
Lessons cover reading music, music theory, pieces, scales and exercises. Additional material is included to suit your individual tastes and goals. If you have a favourite pop artist, or favourite songs you would like to play, I can arrange these to suit your playing level.
My teaching studio is in Waterview, Auckland – a handy central to west Auckland location.
