Teaching Info
Whether you are a complete beginner, or an experienced guitarist looking for new skills, I can guide you through the steps in a relaxed, friendly environment. I have taught students aged 7 to 70, and whatever your goals, I am confident that I can help you get there.
While I mostly teach songs from the Rock and Pop world (both acoustic and electric), Folk, Country, Blues, and Alternative styles will also be covered depending on the interests of each student. I encourage all my students to suggest songs by artists that they would like to learn, as I know that we all have “bucket list” songs that we would love to be able to play. I’m still working on mine!
The fundamentals of reading will be covered but I typically teach using tablature and ear training. I only teach theory as and when it is appropriate to the standard and interests of the student.
“Songs will come and go, but good technique is forever.”
Learn properly and you’ll learn faster and enjoy the process a lot more.
Maggie is making huge progress with her guitar skill. She actually told me that she loves playing the guitar a lot. I'm grateful to have such a professional musician to teach my girl. Thank you so much. Kind Regards Tina Thank you for this report and for your years of tuition with Luke. He has thoroughly enjoyed his lessons and he definitely benefited from the structure and discipline you brought to your sessions with him. In addition to teaching him how to play the guitar, you have also nurtured a love (and confidence) in him for performing in front of people. He is off to a great start and I know he will put to good use the foundation you helped him build. Harry and Liz (Luke’s parents) Thanks for your email regarding Hayden's progress this year with his guitar lessons. He really loves your lessons and I enjoy listening to him play what he is learning. It brings me real joy when I hear him practising and playing in his bedroom. He is really looking forward to continuing his lessons with you next year. Charmaine (Hayden’s mum) Part of me is a little bit jealous now that they are enjoying the guitar sooo much. It’s taken some time with Jess but she now practices and sometimes closes her eyes really feeling the music. Thank you for being such an amazing teacher Yvonne Thanks so much for all the great lessons and support you’ve given Chloe. She’s learned a lot and really enjoys playing the guitar because of you.
