Bio
Robert Dussler, PGDip Arts Music(CelloPerf&Tch), PGDipSecTch (Mus)
I grew up in a musical family in Hamburg, Germany. There I studied the cello with Professors Gmelin and Metzmacher and competed at the German chamber music youth competition at national level. In New Zealand I furthered my studies of the instrument and investigated various approaches to the teaching of string instruments with Euan Murdoch (Victoria University). I am a qualified secondary school music teacher and teach the cello full time in Wellington and at my studio in Paekakariki, Kapiti. I have enjoyed teaching cello for most of my life – since I was 17 years old!
Teaching Info
- Let’s enjoy the instrument from the word go! I like every lesson to be an adventure: humour and spontaneity are important elements of my teaching. After being a full time cello teacher for many years I have a large range of choices and pathways at my disposal. I aim to grow a harmonious connection with the cello, allowing for your individual voice to develop and your learning to become an organic process you can fully partake in.
