Bio
Verity is passionate about the arts and has recently moved back to NZ from living in London for the past 10 years. Originally making the move after being accepted into Guildford School of Acting, she gained her Masters in Musical Theatre and continued on to the West End and international stage in shows such as Evita, Cats, West Side Story, Children Of Eden and many more.
Teaching up to date, London based vocal technique used on the professional scene, she is helping pave the way for driven kiwis and internationals wanting to take the plunge and pursue their dreams further afield. Classically trained in singing and violin, Verity is more than familiar with the rigid foundations and discipline required in building solid technique, studying under Ross Campbell, Head of Royal Academy of Music in London and New York based vocal coach, Natalie Weiss. Contrasting with a Bachelor of Music (Jazz) she can help bring to light authentic style by listening to the true way each individual produces sound. Verity is available for private coaching in musical theatre, jazz, pop, classical, songwriting, acting through song and industry level audition preparation.
Teaching Info
Adamant that good technique should be heard but not seen, Verity’s lessons are tailor made and will consist of building a strong foundation through simple exercises, which are then woven into songs in whichever style is required. Last but not least, the finishing touches will be focused on developing an emotional connection to translate to the audience.
Music theory lessons can be taught through any method. Verity is familiar with ABRSM, Trinity and Lina Ng.
"We are INCREDIBLY lucky to have Verity in NZ! She is an absolute wealth of knowledge and knows so much about the industry. Her vocal techniques are cutting edge and her overall approach to acting and audition technique have helped me improve SO much. Thank you, thank you!!"
Charlotte Jefferson
I now have a complete understanding over how my voice functions from an anatomical point of view and also from a sound management perspective. I have gained so much clarity over technique issues I have had for years! Thank you Verity.
